The Story of a Powerful Military Base and a Tiny Group of Exiles Trying to Dent a Goliath or Two

David Vine is an anthropologist at American University who has spent the past sixteen years researching the impacts of military bases around the world. At Dent, David will briefly tell the history of a little known U.S. military base in the Indian Ocean, and the small global movement which seeks to help the people exiled by the base’s construction return to their homeland.

Through an interactive discussion, we will examine the successes and failures of the momevent to return and its implications for creating social change.
