It's well understood that white women, people of color and other groups are under-represented as workers in tech companies. Most often without any big, evil plot from white, male leaders to keep everyone down. Instead, much of it is the result of hidden bias.
Bias is baked into our systems for finding, hiring and promoting people--often despite the good intentions of the managers involved. In this talk, Sarah Milstein, the co-founder of Lean Startup Productions, investigates the ways that hidden bias--the biases that we all carry and act on without being aware of them--affect our workplace systems, and the things we as leaders can do to personally and structurally recognize and overcome unwanted biases.
