Overview

Join a group of Denters for a deep dive and interactive experience that will broaden your perspective and help you explore leadership, personal growth, and effective management.

Dent:Explore events focus on exploring both a location and a topic. In Sun Valley this fall we’ll take a deeper look at different aspects of management: how you execute in groups, how you avoid burnout, how to hire, manage expectations, and how to manage others by better managing yourself.

As always with Dent, you’ll forge relationships with other creative and entrepreneurial people that will last a lifetime, and you’ll get hands-on input from both your peers and world-class experts in some fascinating fields of work.

Limited to 35 people at most, this experience in Sun Valley will include time spent outside the meeting room.

Your ticket covers conference programming only, exclusive of food and lodging. Discounted lodging in Ketchum, most meals, and other activities are the responsibility of the attendees unless otherwise noted in the schedule.

Guides

In Sun Valley, we’ll have several amazing guides leading us through interactive sessions and conversations. Here’s who we’ve got:

  • Amber Case – Author of Calm Technology. Researcher at The Institute For The Future, cyborg anthropologist, and designer. She’ll be co-hosting a session with Tiana Garoogian, an expert in meditation, film, and light on how to better manage your own emotions and body in order to better manage others.
  • Mike Cottmeyer – Founder and CEO of Leading Agile, a remarkable company that helps companies like Ford through the adoption of agile processes and other organizational transformations. Mike will help us understand the nuances of what makes people tick and how you make hiring decisions and motivate people to change.
  • Andrea Umbach – Leadership coach who works with executives at big companies like Amazon, Andrea will take us through a process called Hassle Mapping that will help us uncover the  opportunities that often sit right beneath our nose.

Hassle Mapping

The Limelight Hotel

Guide: Andrea Umbach

We have heard the success stories and enjoyed the results of this framework (Netflix, Nespresso, Progressive, etc) but often we don’t want to go delve into hassles - who wants to concentrate on the negatives? But, leaders who excel at product innovation and demand creation do exactly that. They examine the lives of customers through the lens of a hassle map—a detailed study of the problems, large and small, that people experience whenever they use their products. Have you hassle mapped lately?
