Dent:Explore Telluride

December 2, 2018 - December 6, 2018

An immersive, interactive, and intimate leadership summit hosted in the Rocky Mountains. Dent Passport holders attend at half-price.

Ready to register? You can sign up here.

Join a group of Denters in Colorado for a deep dive and interactive experience that will broaden your perspective and help build the resources you need to practice better leadership while surrounded by the picturesque beauty of the snow-capped Rocky Mountains.

This workshop is for anyone who makes regular decisions that materially affect the performance of their organization. As always with Dent, you’ll forge relationships with other creative and entrepreneurial people that will last a lifetime, and you’ll get hands-on input from both your peers and world-class experts in some fascinating fields of work.

We’ll bring together a set of leading experts in unique and different fields of work. Each guide will lead an interactive workshop designed to help improve your understanding of their field of work, inspire new and useful perspectives, and prepare you for more effective leadership.

  • Andrea Umbach
  • Dana Corey
  • Morgan Graham (Co-Chair)

We’ll share additional guides here as they are confirmed and added to the schedule.

What you can expect

The Dent community is filled with inspiring and motivated people who are looking to share great experiences together and accomplish big things. Your time in Telluride will be personable, actionable, and social.

The schedule will provide great opportunities to work on specific challenges you face in your work or personal growth, as well as time to reflect on the learning you gain. You’ll get hands-on time in a small workshop setting with world-leading experts who can blend their past experience, experiential teaching, and thorough knowledge of theory into a valuable new set of tools for your work.

Limited to 30 people at most, this experience in Telluride will include time spent outside the meeting room. While we are there and assuming the weather cooperates, much of the world-class ski mountain will already be open, and we’ll have the opportunity to spend some time on the slopes. The town of Telluride is a beautiful mountain retreat in and of itself, and we’ll enjoy a pub crawl, great meals at fantastic restaurants, and a series of evening games and activities that provide the opportunity for you to forge deep and meaningful relationships with your peers.

Take as much time as you need. Then teach me something I don’t know in five minutes or less.

The work of leadership is messy in action. Understanding the landscape, who are the stakeholders, and how to influence are one thing in theory and another in practice. Session: Cultivating Resilient Teams

The Peaks Resort

The work of leadership is all about tackling unexpected new challenges, and the modern world is full of these kinds of challenges for leaders in every realm.

The US Military has a term to describe this kind of world: V.U.C.A. -- Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous. The successful teams are the ones that have the ability to quickly adapt as the world changes around them.

Gary Ware will take us through a workshop designed to help us build our skills and resilience.

Optimal Shuttle Departure Time

Recommended: Mountain Limo
Schedule your own ride back to the airport - Mountain Limo provides one way and round trip individual seats or charter bus rides to and from Grand Junction or Montrose; collaborate on the Dent Slack channel to find a group of Denters with a similar schedule.

Travel Tips and Information

There are three good options for flying to Telluride:

1. Grand Junction (GJT) is the least expensive, and is about a 3-hour drive from the resort.
2. Montrose (MTJ) is a little pricier than Grand Junction, and is about a 1.5-hour drive from the resort.
3. Telluride Airport (TEX) is the most expensive, and you’ll fly in on a very small plane — but you land a short 15 minutes from the resort!

If you fly to Grand Junction or Montrose, there are several shuttle companies that provide seats (or whole van rentals) between the airport and The Peaks Resort. We recommend using the Dent Community Slack channel for telluride to coordinate plans and rent a shuttle together with other Denters.

We recommend Mountain Limo.
