Gordon Huether was born in Rochester, NY in 1959. In the course of his initial artistic explorations, Huether resolved to create a lasting impact on the world around him through the creation of large-scale, site-specific works of art and founded Gordon Huether Studio in Napa, California in 1987. He works extensively with glass and lighting and frequently incorporates repurposed objects, metals, and synthetic materials in his work.
Huether’s work ranges from integrated architectural installations to freestanding sculptures, to immersive artwork for landscape settings. Furthermore, the artist creates more intimate fine art, private and residential commissions. Over the course of his career, he has completed 75 public art projects and over 170 private commissions, including installations for universities, hospitals, recreation centers, civic buildings, libraries, museums, airports, transportation centers, parking garages, and private corporations and more. His work has been exhibited at museums and galleries, and is collected across the United States.
