Meet Inventor Jeri Ellsworth and See Tilt Five in Action

Jeri Ellsworth is a lifelong gamer, inventor, and creator and one of the world’s foremost AR luminaries. She is well-known for heading up the R&D department at Valve, but now her vision for the future of gaming has her now driving innovation for the team at Tilt Five.

At our reception, Jeri will let our guests play with the first and only augmented reality (AR) system that uses an innovative projection technology to connect you and your friends to the games you love – in-person or online. She and the The Tilt Five team have developed a system that allows gamers to strategize, battle, and play their favorite video games, board games, or tabletop RPGs--with mind-blowing holograms, right on your table!.

Meet Mitch, the Germ-Zapping Robot from Xenex

Helpful robots are nothing new at our receptions, in 2014 we had our friend “Baxter” pouring beer for our guests. In 2022, we will have “Mitch” on hand to show off the capabilities of robots designed to help the world think differently about the importance of cleanliness and disinfection. Xenex Disinfection Services, the world leader in UV disinfection for healthcare facilities, is providing one of its LightStrike Germ-Zapping Robots to disinfect the reception area prior to the panelist and guest’s arrival. The robots, which have been deployed by 1000+ healthcare facilities worldwide (including the Sharp system and VA healthcare facilities in San Diego), are proven to destroy SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) on surfaces in just 2 minutes.

(If Mitch looks familiar, you may have seen his sibling “Violet” on the ABC series Grey's Anatomy.)

For the past eight years, Dent the Future has had the honor of organizing science and tech panels in collaboration with the San Diego Comic-Con editorial team. This effort has resulted in some of the most intriguing and forward-thinking talks to have appeared on the SDCC expo stages.

In addition, at our annual speaker receptions we’ve hosted some of the most exciting technology demos to have ever been presented during Comic-Con:

Our Panel. At 1:00pm on Saturday, we invite space enthusiasts with a Comic-Con expo badge to join us for our panel titled: “Get Ready for Living in Orbit, Private Space Stations are Here.” For almost 100 years, space stations (as we think of them today) have been a staple of science fiction. In comic books, the Justice League have their Watchtower, SHIELD has their Peak, and even villains like Magneto -- and of course Darth Vader -- have been known to build fully “operational” orbital stations. At last, humans are now on the cusp of launching and inhabiting space stations that are privately developed. In this panel, we will learn what the future holds, and we will also delve into the realities of living in space.

Our Reception. At 5:00pm – 7:30pm, All Dent community members and invited press are welcome to attend our reception in the Gaslamp district. There you can meet and mingle with our speakers, enjoy beverages and great conversation. If you want an invite, Just email steve [at] dentthefuture [dot] com.

Our Dinner. At 8:00pm, Dent Passport members, registered Dent Santa Fe conference attendees, our speakers, and invited guests will converge for an intimate dinner in San Diego.
