New To The Editorial Team: Jamy Ian Swiss
We are delighted to share that Denter and world-class magician and author Jamy Ian Swiss has joined the editorial team for Dent 2022 in Santa Fe, NM!
Each year at the Dent Conference, we work hard to bring a mix of incredible artists, philosophers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and unusual professionals to the stage to spark our thinking and kick-start deep conversations. As we’ve gotten to know Jamy over the past several years, we’ve learned that his wide-ranging interests and expertise are a wonderful complement to the programming we like to explore at the conference.
We’re looking forward to putting together an incredible conference program with Jamy’s assistance this year. In fact, that work is already well underway: we have several amazing speakers planned that we will be announcing shortly.
For those of you not yet familiar with Jamy, you can learn about him in this remarkable New Yorker Profile. But his brief biography is here below:
According to the post-modern magic duo, Penn & Teller, Jamy Ian Swiss is "James Bond with a deck of cards for a pistol!" An internationally acclaimed sleight-of-hand artist, Swiss has appeared internationally for presenters ranging from Fortune 500 companies to the Smithsonian Institution. His U.S. television appearances include CBS 48 Hours; PBS Nova; and repeat appearances on The Today Show and on The Late, Late Show; and he has been seen on screens nationwide in feature-length documentaries including “An Honest Liar” and “Merchants of Doubt.” The author of six books, Swiss has lectured to magicians in 13 countries; to academics and scientists about skepticism and critical thinking; to law enforcement professionals on con games; and consulted on casino game security. A lengthy profile in the New Yorker declared that, “Swiss is widely thought to have one of the most masterly sleight-of-hand techniques in the world today.”
