Denters are assembling to celebrate the launch of Vanguard — DEEP’s pilot subsea human habitat, which will provide extended access to the ocean for research, conservation, and training. The habitat provides a dry living environment for four crew for medium-duration missions.

At the 2025 conference we mentioned that our friends at DEEP are launching their first undersea habitat, “Vanguard,” in Miami on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. DEEP’s mission is simple and bold: advance how people access, explore, and live in underwater environments—and spark a new era of ocean exploration and research.
Kirk Krack, freediving legend, Dent speaker, and DEEP co-founder, has offered us a small block of complimentary invites for the Vanguard launch reception, and also for a private tour of the facility the day before (October 28). Dent board member and NASA astronaut Cady Coleman will be at the reception and our dinner, as will Dent speaker Gaelin Rosenwaks, the world-renowned marine scientist, explorer, and award-winning filmmaker whose breathtaking documentaries and passion for ocean conservation have inspired people everywhere to care for and protect our blue planet.
A quick full‑circle note: Many Denters may remember our 2016 dives at the Aquarius Reef Base, including the overnight undersea stay. Tom Potts and Roger Garcia—who led Aquarius—are now on the DEEP team. Vanguard will ultimately be placed within swimming distance of that same Aquarius site near Key Largo, FL.

Wed, Oct 29: DEEP launch reception, 6:00 PM. See the habitat pre‑deployment and connect with leaders, researchers, and builders shaping the future of ocean work. Dinner for Dent community members will follow nearby.
