Dent Activity Day: March 23

Here's the latest update regarding our Activity Day happenings scheduled for March 23, 2014 in Sun Valley.The full schedule at a glance is below, (click for a larger image.) Specifics follow.
Sunday is the first activity day at Dent 2014, and those interested should meet in the Inn Lobby Lounge at 9:30am to connect with other Denters and hitch a ride (or a short walk) to one of the following activities. For those who want to sleep in, there will be plenty of great options in the afternoon too -- including wine tasting. Meet in the Inn Lobby Lounge at 1:30pm to connect with other Denters and hitch a ride (or to take a short walk).Here are more specific details regarding each activity.

Buick Scavenger Hunt:

Win prizes and get to know your fellow attendee teammates via a fast-paced competitive hunt for strategically placed clues located in various local sites. Get credit for photos taken of targeted sought-after landmarks, while being pampered in the quiet, luxurious interiors that Buick is known for.

Downhill Skiing/Boarding (Sponsored by ScottEvest)

All day at both Baldy mountain, and dollar mountain resorts. Baldy is best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers/boarders, while Dollar mountain is best suited for beginners.Buses run continuously all day. Skiing can start early in Sun Valley, and for those who want to hit the slopes with the first lift, there will be a shuttle running to the base of Baldy Mountain at 8:30am. Meet in the Inn Lobby Lounge at 8:15am with your gear to head out.Lessons are available on both mountains. Cross Country (XC) Skiing (conditions permitting)

The Sun Valley Nordic & Snowshoe Center is located at the 58,000 square-foot Sun Valley Club in the backyard of the world famous Sun Valley Lodge. This stunning facility features a restaurant, lounge, bar and locker rooms, along with equipment repair, rental and storage. Indoor virtual golf also adds to the list of extras.Skiers will experience some of the best cross-country skiing in America, with unmatched trail quality, training programs, clinics, rentals and state of the art Clubhouse for skiers of all levels. With over 40km of trails groomed daily for skate and classic skiing, the Sun Valley Nordic & Snowshoe Center provides the ultimate experience. Gentle terrain morphs into challenging hills as the trail network leaves the Sun Valley Club.

Ice Skating

All day skating is available at the Sun Valley lodge outdoor ice skating rink. To paraphrase Sun Valley Magazine: For visitors and residents alike, a trip to the Sun Valley ice rink is a must. Ice skaters of all ages, and all capabilities, can glide on ice under the Idaho sun or nighttime stars. For serious skaters or mere beginners, the Sun Valley Skating Center has a complete program with coaching by pros, including many former Olympians.

Wine Tasting at ScottEvest

Think it's neat that Conference sponsor ScottEvest is generously hosting a day of Skiing for Dent attendees? We do to. But wait there's more! A special Apres Ski wine tasting gathering will be held at their fabulous building located in downtown Ketchum starting at 3:00pm. We will be pouring a number of great selections, including some of our favorites from Hand of God.

Hot Springs Trip

While the Sun Valley Lodge has one of the largest, deepest and most comfortable hot pools in Idaho, those with an adventurous streak can seek out a more rustic and natural experience. Join your fellow trailblazers by driving out to the wilds, where at "Frenchman’s Bend," a thermally heated pool sits creekside. While you'll be trading away the comforts of showers, changing rooms, and poolside Mai Tai service, you'll get rock-walls, gravel and sand, and maybe an occasional elk sighting. Despite the au natural locale, bathing suits are required.

Climbing Wall

Climbing at the Wood River Y 32 foot Entre-Prise wall and bouldering cave has an offering for all abilities. Climbers may test their technique and strength through short boulder problems, face climbing or crack jamming. Top rope and lead climbing protects those that are climbing higher than the bouldering height limit.

Photowalk

Capture the local flora and fauna while taking in many of the magnificent views that Ketchum ID has to offer. The Sun Valley area has some of the most vibrant and scenic locales in the world, and this is your opportunity to take it all in while getting to know the Dent 2014 community better.
